Act-Age is currently one the most read manga published in Weekly Shonen Jump and with more than 100 chapters, most fans have been wondering when the series will be adapted into an anime series. Not only that but series also ranked 6th in a survey by AnimeJapan where they asked its fans which manga they want to see animated. Finally after months of waiting it looks like Act-Age anime is closer than we ever thought.
The 25th of Weekly Shonen Jump revealed on Monday, Tatsuya Matsuki and Shiro Usazaki’s Act-Age manga will have an important announcement in the 26th issue of Magazine on June 1. The issue also teases that the manga’s story will “enter a new development” starting from next issue.
Many readers are speculating the “important announcement” to be anime adaptation announcement. More details will be available by Thursday when raw scans will be out.
Written by Tatsuya Matsuki and drawn by Shiro Usazaki, Act-Age first debuted in the pages of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in January 2018. As of May, 10 compiled volumes have been published in Japan. Viz Media who is publishing the manga in English, describes it as: Behind the scenes of the acting world, Shonen Jump style!
Act-Age’s story follows Kei Yonagi, a high school girl who strives to become an actress. She lives with her two younger siblings, after their father left them and their mother died. Kei has an extreme talent for method acting, to the point where she loses track of reality while acting. At an audition, some speculate that acting of this intensity could be self-destructive, and cite that as a reason for not accepting her. However, Kei catches the eye of the highly acclaimed director Sumiji Kuroyama, who steps forward with the intent of bringing out her full potential.
