Cells at Work! has inspired multiple spin-offs but one of its darkest spin-offs Cells at work! Code black is inspiring an anime. Moreover the anime based on Shigemitsu Harada and Issei Hatsuyoshiya’s spin-off will premiere in the month with Cells at Work! Season 2.

Studio and Staff
Cells at Work! Code Black anime production is helmed by Studio LIDENFILMS with Hideyo Yamamoto directing it. Hayashi Mori is providing scripts and composition for the series. Meanwhile Eiji Abiko is credited with character designs and Yūgo Kanno with Music composition.

Cells at Work! Code Black release date is currently scheduled for January 2021.

Cells at Work! Code Black Plot
Cells At Work! Code Black is dark-seinen manga which centers around highly-stressed cells of a unhealthy person. Kodansha USA who is publishing the manga in English describes it as:
There are trillions of cells in the human body, and they all have to work hard to keep that body alive. But what if that body isn’t taking great care of itself? What if that body smokes too much? Or drinks too much?
What if that body forgets to use protection? Why, it might find itself with all manner of dysfunction, and who’s going to have to pick up the pieces? It turns out the same immune cells that fight off the common cold also have to deal with troubles of a distinctly more adult nature…
