Choujn X chapter 2
Tokio - Choujn X

After months of speculation and wait, Tokyo Ghoul’s Sui Ishida has finally returned with a brand new manga Choujin X. The first chapter in the series dropped on May 10 with an immediate English release by Mangaplus and ShonenJump.

Ishida’s artwork is as beautiful as ever with his signature shading and symbolic visuals are spread over the whole chapter. Similar to his previous work, Choujin X takes place in a world where humans co-exist with superhuman creatures called “Choujin”. The two protagonist Tokio and Azuma end up in a dire situation where both decides to take the Choujin serum and Tokio ends up transforming into a beast similar of Kaneki’s Kakuja with characteristics of a vulture.

Since the first chapter dropped fans have been impatiently waiting for its next instalment but its release schedule and format has left many confused. So today I will try to discuss about Choujin X chapter 2 and its release date, spoilers, raws and other important details.

Choujn X Chapter 2 Release Date

Now the thing with Choujin X is that it has a very peculiar release schedule different from any Jump series so far.

New chapters will release on an irregular basis according to Ishida’s schedule – which means he’ll be able to take his time to write the story that he wants to write. Taking to Twitter, the Ishida wrote ‘I want to try and do all of the backgrounds and finishing touches by myself this time around, so it’ll be updated when I can’.

As a result, Choujin X isn’t actually being serialized in Young Jump like all of Ishida’s other works; instead, it’s on Shueisha’s online manga service Tonari no Young Jump.

We are expecting the series to release on monthly basis, so the chapter 2 of Choujin 2 should release in the last week of June 2021. Moreover being an online exclusive the series won’t have early raw scans leaks.

Update 1

Sui Ishida has revealed some storyboards from chapter 2 in his latest stream. Have a look:

Update 2: Sui Ishida recently tweeted that he has finished drawing the second chapter. He said:

Chojin X! I’m glad…. I’ve almost finished drawing, so I’ll continue soon (# 2) …

Update 3 June 24, 2021: It has been confirmed that the second chapter of Choujin X will release on June 29, 2021.

About the series

Azuma Higashi is a rather popular boy. Although he may be somewhat small, he has good fighting skills, a strong sense of justice, and his grades are at the top of his class. This is the opposite of Tokio Kurohara, his friend who does not listen in class and is simply a bystander while Azuma fights. Nonetheless, these two childhood friends’ bond is strong, no matter how different they may be.

The two live in Yamato Prefecture, an incredibly ordinary district with some areas destroyed by Choujin. Choujin are humans with dangerous supernatural powers, often the cause of the surrounding destruction. Whilst on their way back home, Tokio and Azuma encounter a Choujin, who threatens to kill them. Having no chance of escape, Tokio and Azuma make a crucial decision: to become Choujin.

With these new powers acquired, Tokio can no longer be the bystander he once was, now entrapped in a world where fighting is unavoidable.
