Suddenly in the summer of 2020, the Tokyo network failed. The system malfunctions, information leaks, and traffic control is affected, causing the city center to become confused. Taichi Yagami, a fifth grader living in a tower condominium near Tokyo, knows that his mother and younger sister are trapped in the Metropolitan Loop Line.
When Taichi, who grasped the situation with the cooperation of fourth grade elementary school student Koshiro Izumi, started running, a powerful light spilled out and a Digimon coromon jumped in. Coromon evolves into Agumon when held by Taichi. Taichi and Agumon fight in the network space against the monsters that are responsible for causing the network failure.

Toei animation is producing the 2020 reboot with Masato Mitsuka as director. Atsuhiro Tomioka (Inazuma Eleven, Pokémon, One Piece, Beyblade Burst) is credited with script supervision. Original Digimon Adventure‘s Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru returns to draw character designs.
