Don’t Sleep on The Promised Neverland Season 2.

Yes, I know that we are all excited for the final season of AOT (trust me I can’t wait), the continuation of Jujtsu Kaisen, the second season of Re:Zero, and the final season of The Seven Deadly Sins but don’t sleep on The Promised Neverland season 2.

With all these big names coming out with new content next season everyone seems to have forgotten about The Promised Neverland. It actually might be the sleeper hit next season. Season 1 of The Promised Neverland blew me away. The animation quality, the direction of the show, and the camera angles used to build the suspense were all impeccable and hugely entertaining. This left me wanting more and after a delays due to the pandemic season 2 will be released on January 7, 2021.

Takeaways from season 1

The story is intriguing and does not follow many of the usual tropes. There is a twist and turn at every corner. This show had me on the edge of my seat almost every episode. I am looking forward to the evolution of the story and see how it grows. I am expecting great things out of this anime especially with its potential. I haven’t read the manga and don’t plan to (since I don’t want to lose the suspense), but man am I looking forward to this season and where Norman is (or if he is still there).

You might not think the story of The Promised Neverland is realistic. We surely don’t have child breeding camps and sell their meat to cannibals? Yes, you are right, but look at from another perspective.

What if the aliens in the show represent us humans and the kids in the show represent animals like Chicken or beef? How are we any different from those monsters? Don’t we do exactly the same things that they do? Don’t we also breed animals from when they are born to when they are killed and processed to be eaten? Many of us don’t want to accept the truth to see the harsh reality of how cruelly we treat animals. The Promised Neverland puts this into perspective by putting us the humans in the shoes of animals. The monsters are a higher power who breed and eat us. We are the animals in this situation. This leaves us to think are we really any different from these monsters?
