They choose to go to an upscale cafe, and while enjoying their drinks Sayu watches several friends laugh and talk together outside. Episode 12 Recap
Ogiwara returns to pick them up, and on the way back Sayu asks him to take a detour to her old high school. Under the cover of the darkness, Yoshida and Sayu sneak up to the school’s rooftop, although Yoshida is clearly nervous about trespassing on school grounds. As Sayu steps out onto the rooftop, a flood of emotions threatens to overcome her memories with Yuuko returning. Grabbing at a newly installed fence on the rooftop, she sobs as she begins to blame herself for pushing Yuuko over the edge.
Yoshida grabs her hand, telling her that they were each other’s best friends and that Yuuko would’ve wanted her to smile and leave the past back on the rooftop, which leads to Sayu crying in Yoshida’s arms. Afterwards, Sayu realizes her past and vows to remember and see Yuuko again someday. The trio finally arrives at the house, and inside, everyone is shocked to see Sayu’s mother slap Sayu as soon as they meet face to face.

I shaved. Then I brought home a high school girl is a Japanese light novel series written by Shimesaba with illustrations drawn by both. It has been adapted into a manga series with 3 compiled volumes available. An anime adaptation by Project No. 9 is scheduled for January 2021 release.
Office worker Yoshida has been crushing on his boss, Airi Gotou, for five years. Despite finally scoring a date with her, his confession is promptly rejected. Drunk and disappointed, he stumbles home, only to find a high school girl sitting on the side of the road. The girl, needing a place to stay the night, attempts to seduce Yoshida. Despite rejecting her advances, he nevertheless invites her into his apartment.
The next morning, the girl, introducing herself as Sayu Ogiwara, reveals that she has run away from Hokkaido all the way to Tokyo. During her six-month spree, she continually traded sexual favors for a roof over her head. Yoshida, however, remains unswayed by her seduction. Instead, he has her do a different kind of work — one that entails washing dishes and doing laundry. And so, a touching relationship between a heartbroken adult and a runaway high school girl begins.
