Kaiju No. 8 has surely become one of the popular works despite debuting just last year and its readers around the globe are wondering when the popular manga will get an anime adaptation. The news of an anime adaptation has been spreading popular manga forums and social media like a wildfire and we are here today to clear some things up for all of you.
Kaiju No. 8 Anime Adaptation :
Kaiju No. 8 is a weekly Shonen manga written by Naoya Matsumoto published in the Shueisha’s ShonenJump+ website.
Despite only debuted last year, the popularity of the series has grown exponentially, with over 1.2 million copies in circulation with only 2 Volumes released so far. It’s no wonder that fans wish to see their favourite characters in motion in an anime adaptation.
Sadly, the Kaiju No. 8 Anime adaptation has a long way to go mostly due to lack of material. Usually, a Jump manga receives its first anime adaptation once it has over 100-120 chapters.
This ensures that there is enough content to produce an immediate sequel in case anime proves to be profitable to the production company and each episode has proper pacing and no longer has to rely on fillers.
For now, Kaiju No. 8 has released about 30 chapters, which is barely enough material to create a single-cour anime. Moreover considering the author’s release schedule where he releases 3 chapters a month and one week break, it will approximately take around 2 years to reach 100 chapters.
We can assume that the anime adaptation is currently in the pre-planning stage at Shueisha where the planers are looking for producers to fund the anime along with making decisions regarding which studio and staff members they should get to adapt it.
Kaiju No. 8 Anime Release Date
Assuming we will have enough content by 2023, the anime adaptation will be announced in December 2023 during the Jump Fest Event. Almost all of Shueisha anime projects are announced during this event which takes at the end of the year. For example this year they announced the anime adaptation for Chainsaw Man, Platinum End and Shadows House. As for the release date, the Kaiju No. 8 Anime will air 3-6 months after the initial announcement, most likely in April 2024 or July 2024.
Kaiju No. 8 Storyline
With the highest kaiju-emergence rates in the world, Japan is no stranger to attack by deadly monsters. Enter the Japan Defense Force, a military organization tasked with the neutralization of kaiju. Kafka Hibino, a kaiju corpse cleanup man, has always dreamed of joining the force and wants another shot at achieving his childhood dream of eliminating the kaiju. But how can he expect to fight kaiju when he suddenly becomes one himself?!
Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. Now, thanks to a sudden eligibility rule change, Kafka has one more shot at realizing his dream. There’s just one problem–he’s suddenly turned into a kaiju! And even worse, he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
