Komi Can’t Communicate is a cute story of a boy named Todano who meets a new classmate named Komi. When Komi goes to introduce herself to the class, she gets so worked up she ends up writing her name on the board. Most of her classmates don’t question why she decided to write her name on the board due to her being so pretty.

Todano ends up getting stuck with Komi during lunch break and decides to try to communicate with her. In a touching scene involving “talking” via blackboard, Tadano learns Komi has a communication disorder. Komi isn’t elusive; she can’t get the courage to speak, and her cool demeanour is a mask for the anxiety she battles. However, despite this, she has a goal to make 100 friends. Todano, deciding he’s the first, decides to help her become more social and complete her goal. Considering the high school they go to specifically select the “most unique” students imaginable, it’s going to be tough.
