Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san Anime Adaptation Announced

NHK announced on Tuesday that Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san also known as “The Caterer at The Maiko Manor will receive an anime adaptation. NHK will reveal additional details regarding shows studio, staff and release Date later.

Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san or “The Caterer at The Maiko Manor” is quite popular among the Japanese audience. As of October 2019, the slice of life manga had 700,000 copies in circulation, and as of March 2020, the manga has over 1 million copies in circulation. In 2020, the manga also won the 65th Shogakukan Manga Award for the shōnen category.

About Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san

Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san also known as “The Caterer at The Maiko Manor” is a slice of life manga written and illustrated by Aiko Koyama, which has been serialized in Shounen Sunday since December 2016.

The manga’s story takes place at Kyoto’s hanamachi geisha quarter. Within the winding streets of Kyoto’s geisha district, there lives a 16-year-old girl named Kiyo. After failing to become a Maiko, an apprentice traditional Japanese performer, Kiyo works as the caterer for her troupe. This is the story of her daily life.
