On May 13, the official website to Pokemon films announced that the theatrical release of Pokemon the Movie: Coco will be delayed due to spread of COVID-19 in Japan. The film was originally scheduled to premiere on July 10. The films’ official website and and social media accounts will announce the new Pokemon: Coco release date once it has been decided.
“We have decided to postpone the release date of ‘Theatrical version Pokemon Coco’ that was scheduled to be released from July 10, 2020, due to the spread of new coronavirus infection”, the official twitter account said in the below mentioned statement.
Pokemon the movie: Coco is the 23rd installment in the Pocket monsters universe and third in alternate universe. Set in Okaya forest, a Pokemon Paradise protected by strict rules that forbid outsiders from setting foot inside, the film centers on Coco, a boy who was raised by Pokemon and also considers himself as one, treating the Mythical Pokémon Zarude as his father. Ash and Pikachu encounter Coco during an adventure. The film is inspired from Tarzan with theme of “Human raised by Pokemon”.
I will be by directed by 2018’s Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us director Tetsuo Yajima with longtime Pokemon script writer Atsuhiro Tomioka writing it.
