Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 2 is a highly anticipated follow-up to the series’ first season which aired in Summer 2020 and was praised by viewers and critics alike and was part of many controversies and was a highlight of 2020. The sequel was announced shortly after the end of The first season of Kanojo Okarishimasu and since then fans have been patiently waiting for its release.

Rent A Girlfriend Season 2 is set to premiere on July 2, 2022, at 2:30 AM JST on the Super Animeism programming block on MBS, TBS and other affiliated channels. The episode 1 titled “Dream and Girlfriend” will release on the same date while the second episode “The Usual Girlfriend” a week later on July 7th.

What is the plot of the second season?

The second season of Rent a Girlfriend will begin with adapting the “Rental Girlfriend’s Dream Arc”.

In the arc, as the day progresses, Kazuya later learned from Chizuru herself that she wanted to become a top actress idol. Learning that Chizuru wanted to become one as fast as she could before her grandmother passed away, Kazuya selflessly searched for a way to help Chizuru to be able to have her movie on the silver screen. His work would unexpectedly be helped by a neighbour who disturbed his conversation with Chizuru on a certain night, Mini Yaemori.

Rent a Girlfriend English Dub Release and Updates

Crunchyroll already has announced that they have started working on Rent a Girlfriend S2 Dub. The cast from the first season are expected to return for their roles which will be announced very soon on their official Twitter account and the dubbed episodes will be available this May. They also have confirmed that they are working on Brazilian and Portuguese dubs. We will update the article once more information will be available.

Is the anime coming to Netflix?

Rent-a-Girlfriend anime is only available on Netflix Japan as of this writing. Unfortunately, no word yet on whether the anime will be available on Netflix outside of Japan.

About Rent a Girlfriend/ Kanojo Okarishimasu

Rent-A-Girlfriend is a popular mainstream Japanese Romantic-Comedy manga written and illustrated by Reiji Miyajima for Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine. The series debuted in the magazine in July 2017 and so far has been collected into 26 volumes.

Studio TMS entertainment adapted the series into an anime adaptation which aired in July 2020 for 12 episodes and was followed by the second season in July 2022.

The series also has inspired a Live-action drama which premiered in July 2022. A spin-off manga titled “Rent-A-(Really Shy!) -Girlfriend” centred around Rumi is currently running in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app.

The story follows Kazuya Kinoshita who has broken up with his girlfriend Mami Nanami after dating for about a month. He uses an online app to rent a girlfriend named Chizuru Mizuhara, a beautiful girl.

However, because she appears to be too perfect, he writes her a low rating, but then Chizuru berates him for that and reveals she is meaner than he expected. However, when Kazuya’s grandmother collapses in the hospital, he brings her along and the grandmother is smitten with how great she is.

Kazuya continues renting Chizuru in order to keep up appearances with his family and friends, but things get complicated when they discover they are next-door apartment neighbours and attend the same college. Later, other girls from the girlfriend business also join in dating and showing interest in Kazuya.
