The Eminence in Shadow which is also known as ‘Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute‘ in Japanese is a popular comedy-action series. It follows Cid Kagenou who is Chuuni, which is a character trait just like tsundere used in in Japanese media used to describe early teens who have delusions of grandeur and have convinced themselves they have hidden knowledge or secret powers. The term was popularised by Chunibyo & Other Delusions anime series and one of its recent popular example is the character Fischl from Genshin Impact Gacha game.
However in this story’s case it is the exact opposite. The main character thinks he’s just playing at being chuunibyou, but actually it’s all real, and everyone else around knows it’s real, but only he doesn’t know that it’s real. And because he’s pretending like it’s real, nobody knows that he doesn’t know that it’s real so nobody tells him that it’s real.

The Eminence in Shadow manga adaptation by artist Sakano Airi is published in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comp Ace Magazine where new chapters are published on 26th of each month. Therefore The Eminence in Shadow chapter 24 will release on December 26, 2020.

The Eminence in Shadow is Japanese light novel series written by Daisuke Aizawa. It started as an web novel which later was picked by Kadokawa to publish as light novel with illustrations drawn by Touzai. The series so far has inspired a manga adaptation and a chibi side-story manga.

“Just like how everyone adored heroes in their childhood, a certain young man adored those powers hidden in shadows. Ninjas, rogues, shadowy mentor types, that sort of deal.
After hiding his strength and living the mediocre life of a NPC by day while undergoing frenzied training by night, he finally reincarnates into a different world and gains ultimate power.
The young man who is only pretending to be a power in the shadows his subordinates who took him more seriously than he expected and a giant organization in the shadows that gets accidentally trampled.
This is the story of a young boy who had adored powers in shadows possibly eventually reigning over the world of shadows in another world.”
