Summer 2020 is about to begin and while the world might not be in good state, Nescafe has made an attempt to brighten up your days of hardships. On Sunday, Nescafe launched a new anime-styled commercial advertising their summer drinks. The commerical is set in Hongkong and is brought to you by animation studios such as FILMONY and CoMIX Wave films, the studio behind multiple Makoto Shinkai titles including Your Name and Weathering with You. Check out this beautifully crafted anime commerica below. Also note that the below version is in Chinese, Japanese version will be revealed later.
The commerical portrays a girl as she cycles through the streets of Hongkong while helping people on her route and sharing hapiness, joy and ofcourse a can Nescafe Cold Coffee.
The above commercial is directed by Yusuke Takase who previously worked on One Piece hungry days CMs, with Yojiro Aari as animation director and Tasuku Watanabe (Your Name) as background art director. Yusuke Takase and Nanaue drew the character designs and Mizutamari Higashi (Pokémon: Twilight Wings), provided the concept art.
FILMONY provided the animation and backgrounds by CoMIX Wave films and CGI at Samurai Pictures.
Director Yusuke Takase tweeted about his involvement with the project and commented about the situation in Hong Kong saying, “Hong Kong is in a difficult situation, but I hope that the best is yet to come for the city.”
