Anime for years has been used as a medium to bring life to new things and video games is no stranger to it. Over the years the Japanese style of animation has been used to attract newcomers and please the original fans by adapting them into the anime format such as the cult classic horror game Higurashi: When They Cry which has been adapted twice; the visual novel based anime, Stiens; Gate, which is now acclaimed as one the best time travel story and along with others such as the Persona 5 the animation, The Princess Connect which is based on the gacha game of the same name and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 anime by Studio Trigger. And the latest to join the list of video game-based anime is Nintendo’s “The World Ends with You The Animation”.
The World Ends With You (known as Subarashiki Kono Sekai The Animation in Japan) is an upcoming anime adaptation of Squares Enix’s and Jupiter action RPG game which was released in 2007 for Nintendo DX which is set in Shibuya, Japan. Now, with the upcoming sequel, Neo: The World Ends With You on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch set for release in July, the game was decided to be adapted into an anime.
Studio Dominica and Shin-Ei Animation are together producing the animation for the series. Kazuya Ichikawa of the Monster Strike The Animation is directing the anime along with Midori Gotou as the script supervisor. Tetsuya Nomura and Gen Kobayashi are responsible for characters designs.
The Episode 1 of World Ends with you is scheduled to premiere on April 10, 2021. The series is listed with 12 episodes and a new episode will release every Saturday at 1:25 am JST.

Where to Watch World Ends With You Anime Online?
Viewers in the USA and Canada can watch the show on Funimation in its original Japanese dub with embedded English subs. Animelab is streaming the English subtitled episodes in Australia and New Zealand. It is also available on Ani-One YouTube for most of the South-East Asian countries in multiple subs including Traditional and Non-traditional Chinese, Indonesian and English. It is currently not available on Netflix though, but we are hoping they will license the show once it will finish broadcasting.

It has been confirmed that the season 1 of World Ends With You TV anime will run for a total of 12 episodes starting from April 10 to June 26. 2021. A new episode in the series will be released every Saturday at 1:25 am JST.
When the English Dub for The World Ends With You The Animation will premiere?
Unfortunately as of writing, there has been official confirmation from Funimation or any other official party of when the English dub Subarashiki Kono Sekai The Animation will release. However taking into account the popularity of the game in America and other English speaking countries, where it is now considered a cult- classic, along with the fact that Funimation is the streaming the show, who is widely known for simuldubs, it is relatively safe to English dub will be announced very soon.
More about the Storyline of World Ends With You The Animation (Subarashiki Kono Sekai The Animation)
The story follows Neku who finds himself alone in the middle of Shibuya’s bustling Scramble Crossing with no memory of how he got there. Little does he know he’s been transported to an alternate plane of existence known as the Underground (UG). Now an unwilling participant in the mysterious “Reapers’ Game,” Neku must partner up with a girl named Shiki in order to survive. Together, they complete missions and defeat monsters known as “Noise” as they gradually uncover the true nature of this twisted Game and there’s only one way to stay alive in Shibuya: trust your partner.
Director Ichikawa already have confirmed there are some small modification in the anime’s story share the staff have kept some parts of the story and changed some parts in the anime in order to adapt it for the anime, but whether the story follows the path of the game, he stated he could not reveal that information at this time. He also stated the anime will depict Shibuya as it is today, instead of from 2007 in the game. The cell phones in the game will also be smartphones instead of flip-phones in the game.
