Anime for years has been used as a medium to bring life to new things and sports is no stranger to it. The medium has spawned many known legends such as the classic boxing show Ashita no Joe and the mega-hit volleyball centred series Haikyuu!! along with simple stories told through using a sport such as Run with the Wind. And the latest to join the list of these sports anime is “Burning Kabaddi”, an upcoming shonen anime centred around Indian sport Kabaddi.

Burning Kabaddi (Shakunetsu Kabaddi) is an upcoming sports anime which follows first-year high school student Tatsuya Yoigoshi, a former ace soccer player who dislikes sports. He gets invited to join a team for the contact sport kabaddi. He scoffs at the idea at first but becomes interested after watching a kabaddi practice.

The Episode 1 will premiere tomorrow and will run from April 3 to June 29, 2021, for 12 episodes. A new episode will be released every Saturday at 1:25 am JST.

TMS Entertainment Animation studio is animating the snow with Kazuya Ichikawa as the Director. Yuuko Kakihara and Midori Gotou are the scriptwriters, Mari Takada is designing the characters and Ken Ito will be composing the soundtrack.

It is currently not available on Netflix though, but we are hoping they will license the show once it will finish broadcasting.

When the English Dub for Shakunetsu Kabaddi Anime will premiere?

There is no official confirmation of whether or not Burning Kabaddi will receive an English dub or not. However taking into account the fact that Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, who have been lately producing lots of their shows in dub, it is relatively safe to say that an English dub will be announced very soon.
