“A sequel to the live-action film Kingdom is in the works! Thanks to the fact that more people than we could had imagined watched the first film, it has led to the sequel. Thank you so much! I’ve had the pleasure of being involved in the lengthy screenplay conference this time as well. Ouki said to Shin, “Let’s meet on the battlefield.” It’s going to be a solid portrayal of that world. I believe that people will enjoy the battlefield and drama that will remain in the history of Japanese films on a larger scale than the previous film. The release is still some time away, but please, everyone, I hope  you’re looking forward to it.”

The upcoming movie will adapt the Keiyou Campaign Arc which runs from chapter 48-73 in manga and follows young as he joins his first war campaign as foot soldier. The film is expected to begin shooting in China next year.

Based on the historical manga by Yasuhisa Hara, the first movie opened in Japan in April 2019 and grossed more than $53.2 million. Later in August, Funimation screened the movie in Canada and US. The kingdom Live-Action full movie is currently available on Amazon Prime.

Hara’s historical manga began with the slave boy Xin and his dream of becoming a great general for the state of Qin. Xin helps Ying Zheng, the young Qin king who shares his desire to unify China, rise to power within the state. Xin does all he can to become a superior commander of an army capable of defeating the Seven Warring States.
