Houseki no Kuni aka The Land of Lustrous is one of the most unique manga premises to come out of the industry which might sound weird on paper but once you start reading it takes you through a roller coaster of emotions. There will be times when you’ll find yourself laughing at the ridiculous gimmicks of the young Gems in the show and then there will be times when you’ll be left devasted with their battle against the Lunarians. Along with this, it also involves some deep lore and intricate world-building which makes it perfect for repetitive viewing.
It already has been two months since the last chapter was published was the readers are starting to wonder what is taking so long. Apparently back in December, it was announced that the series will be going on an indefinite hiatus.

Is Land of Lustrous on break currently?
Yes, it was announced in the February 2021 issue of Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine announced on Friday that Haruko Ichikawa’s Land of the Lustrous manga will be going on a hiatus for an indefinite period. As for the reason, it wasn’t particularly mentioned some say it was to plan the upcoming arc in the series or to enjoy the new PlayStation 5 she recently got.
Update: the series will return on June 24, 2022, after 18 months hiatus.
Land of Lustrous Chapter 96 Possible Release Date
As for when it will return, no such date was mentioned in the annoucement but we expect it return soon.
So far the series has only taken 3 breaks of one month each, so it relatively safe to say that Ichikawa will release the 96th chapter of Houseki no Kuni very soon.
Houseki no Kuni Chapter 96 Raw Scans, Spoilers and Other Leaks
At the moment of writing the raw scans and spoilers of Land of Lustrous Chapter 96 haven’t come out yet. Such raw scans usually start surfacing on the net 3-4 days before the official release date and can be found on online forums such as 4chan and Reddit.

Where to read online?
Currently, there is no official way to read the latest chapters online other than to wait for Kodansha USA to publish the English translated volume of it. As of now, they have released a total of 10 volumes in English which are available both digitally and imprint. They are currently 2 volumes behind the current chapter. The other option available is to rely on the unofficial fan translations.
About the manga
Ichikawa began serializing the action fantasy Land of Lustrous (Houseki no Kuni) manga in Afternoon magazine in October 2012. Kodansha published the 11th volume on July 20. Kodansha Comics licensed the manga in English in October 2016 and published the tenth volume on February 25. The 11th volume is scheduled to ship on October 5, 2021.
A 12-episode television anime adaptation by animation studio Orange aired in Fall 2017.
Long ago, Earth was struck by six meteorites, creating six moons and leaving a lone island in their wake. Those who could not make it to the island sank to the bottom of the ocean, where, over time, they slowly turned to crystal. Clumsy, extremely fragile, and having no visible talent, they are one of the weakest gems around, unable to help in the fight against the Lunarians in any meaningful way.
