Light Novel ‘Konosuba’ ends with Volume 17 on May 1

Last Wednesday, when Konosuba: Legend of Crimson hit the Crunchyroll streaming service, no one anticipated that the April fool’s day will start with such a heartbreaking news.

The official twitter account to novelist Natsume Akatsuki announced on Wednesday that his light novel series Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!) will come to end with Volume 17.

Kadokawa will ship the 17th volume on May 1, 2020.

About Konosuba

Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!) is a Japanese Isekai light novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki with illustrations drawn by Kurone Mishima.

Masahito Watari launched a manga adaption in Monthly Dragon age in September 2014. The manga currently has 11 volumes in circulation.

Akatsuki also wrote a five-volume spin-off titled Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! which ran between July 2014 to March 2019. Kasumi Morino adapted the same into a manga in Monthly Comic Alive from April 2016- December 2017.

Yen Press is publishing the light novel and its Spin-off in English. They are also publishing the their manga adaptions in English.

Studio Deen produced two TV anime series in 2016 and 2017 which both ran for 10 episodes each. J.C. Staff produced Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! – Legend of Crimson anime film in 2019.

Crunchyroll is streaming the two seasons with subtitles and english dub. Crunchyroll started streaming the anime film on March 25.

The anime ranked as 19th most favorite anime in Japan. The anime is voted as the best Isekai anime in Japan.

The story centers on Kazuma, a shut-in student who dies in a traffic accident, but meets the goddess Aqua after death. He is given the chance to reincarnate in a fantasy world and can keep one thing with him. When he decides to choose Aqua herself, they are both transported to their new lives. The pair go on quests to earn just enough to buy food, shelter, and clothing, and eventually hire the sorceress Megumin and swordswoman Darkness, who they quickly learn are just as useless as they are.
