Oshi no Ko is one of the most anticipated anime this Spring Season. Manga fans for years has been waiting for this adaptation and now it is finally around the corner.
In case you’re not familiar with it, Oshi no Ko is a seinen manga created by Aka Akasaka, the same genius behind the popular Kaguya-sama manga. The illustrations are done by Mengo Yokoyari, who previously worked on Scum’s Wish.
It first appeared in Weekly Young Jump, a magazine published by Shueisha, in April 2020 and has since been compiled into 11 volumes
The story revolves around the dark side of the entertainment industry in Japan, with a focus on acting, idols, and music, and features a complex tale of revenge.
Studio Doga Kobo revealed in June 2022 that they are producing an anime adaptation of the series with Daisuke Hiramaki leading the animation production as the series director and Chao Nekotomi serving as assistant director. Jin Tanaka will be the scriptwriter, Kanna Hirayama will handle character designs and Takuro Iga will be in charge of the music.

Oshi no Ko Anime Release Date, Time and Countdown
Oshi no Ko is set to release on April 12, 2023, at 11:00 PM JST on Japanese TV channels and is confirmed to have 11 episodes.
The first episode titled “Mother and Children” will air on the same date which will be a 90-minute special episode which covers the prologue. The second episode titled “The Beginnings” will be released on April 19, 2023. The third and fourth episodes will follow the same pattern, releasing one week apart from each other on April 26, 2023, and May 3, 2023, respectively.

Plot Of The Anime:
The manga’s story begins with Goro, a doctor who coincidentally handles the childbirth of his favourite idol Ai Hoshino, who took a hiatus from the entertainment industry to give birth to her twin babies. However, just before Ai gives birth, Gorō dies from an accident but is reborn as one of Ai’s children, Aquamarine Hoshino, with his memories fully intact.

HIDIVE is streaming the show in the Western Region including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile and the majority part of Europe. Currently, the show is only available in Japanese with English subtitles.

Currently, there is no confirmation from Hidive or any affiliated party regarding the possibility of an English dub for Oshi no Ko.

Is Oshi no Ko manga still ongoing or finished?
Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari’s manga, Oshi no Ko, is still ongoing. However, it seems like the manga is about to reach its endgame since the recent chapters finally revealed the identity of a key mysterious figure in the story. Additionally, Aka Akasaka has started working on his third manga which is set to debut on April 27, 2023.
Since both series are written by Aka Akasaka, fans have long wondered whether the two manga series shares the same universe, and the author has now confirmed that they do. This confirmation came with the release of a special crossover chapter, where a grown-up and married Kaguya appeared, working as a photographer, just as she had wished.
