Anime for years has been used as a medium to bring life to new things and sports is no stranger to it. The medium has spawned many known legends such as the classic boxing show Ashita no Joe and the mega-hit volleyball series Haikyuu!! along with simple stories told through using a sport such as Run with the Wind. And the latest to join the list of these sports anime is “Re-Main”, an original anime by Studio MAPPA centred around the sport of Water Polo.

Re-Main is an upcoming teenage sports anime which follows Minato Kiyomizu, a former water polo player who loses his memory of the past in a car accident and decides to quit the sport when he enters Highschool. The Episode 1 will premiere on July 4, 2021, and is confirmed to run for 12 episodes with a new one releasing every week on Sunday at 1:30 am JST.

It will be directed by Kiyoshi Matsuda who has worked as the head writer for Bones Tiger and Bunny anime. Meanwhile, Masafumi Nishida is penning the scripts and also serving as the chief director and sound director, with Kaori Futo providing the original character designs and Kana Utatane composing the music.

Where to Watch it Online?

Viewers in the USA and Canada can watch the show on Funimation in its original Japanese dub with embedded English dub. Meanwhile, fans in Australia and New Zealand can stream it on Animelab. It is also available on Wakanim in France, Denmark, and Russia. Amazon Prime Video also acquired the license to stream the show in Japan. However it is currently not available on Netflix though, but we are hoping they will license the show once it will finish Broadcasting.

The episodes will first air on local channels in Japan and then will arrive on these streaming platforms within 1-2 hours.

When the English Dub for Re-Main Anime will premiere?

There is no official confirmation of whether or not SK8 The Infinity will receive an English dub or not. However taking into account the fact that Funimation is streaming the anime, which are known industry for their simuldubs and the popularity of the show in English-speaking countries, it is relatively safe to say that an English dub will be announced very soon.

How many epsiodes will season 1 of Re-Main will have?

It has been confirmed that the “Re-Main” TV anime series will air from April 4, 2021, to October 3, 2021, for 12 Episodes. The anime will release a new episode every Sunday at 1:30 am JST.

The story centres on Minato Kiyoumizu, a boy who quit playing water polo after an incident during the winter of his third year of junior high school. After entering high school, he makes a promise and decides to try water polo again and join the school’s team with his friends. However, the new team is week and they soon run into many problems along the way.
