The second episode of The Detective is Already Dead has finally come out on Funimation and now those who watched the premiere episode very excited for the next episode after the cliffhanger it left us on. Based on the novels written by Nigoju, “The Detective is Already Dead” (also called “Tantei wa Mou” in Japanese) is one of the most anticipated anime coming this Summer. It is a supernatural, spy thriller anime that follows Kimihiko Kimizuka and Siesta who are counterparts of each other.

Acclaimed director Manabu Kurihara is leading the production at Studio ENGI with Deko Akao helping him with the scripts. Yōsuke Itk is drawing the character designs and Yuuyu, Naoki Tani, Tatsuya Yano together are working on composing the series’ music.

The Detective is Already Dead Episode 2 Release date

Episode 3 of The Detective is Already Dead titled “I Still Remember, After All This Time” is scheduled to release on July 18, 2021, at 9:30, am JST.

The release time will vary depending on your geographical location. The release time in your location is as follows:

Episode 2 Recap

In the previous episode, we are introduced to our protagonist Kimizuka Kimihiko, a very unlucky main character who gets caught up in situations he shouldn’t. When he accidentally witnesses a drug deal, while on a plane, his flight goes into a state of emergency and a detective is needed. A silver-haired, Siesta, proclaims herself a detective and makes Kimizuka help her solve the case.

It’s been a year since he and Siesta parted ways. Kimizuka has been immersed in the lukewarm water of everyday life. Then a girl from his class, Natsunagi, comes to visit him. Natsunagi offers Kimizuka a request to find an unidentified person X. Kimizuka accepts Natsunagi’s request. In order to fulfil Natsunagi’s request, Kimizuka asks for help from police officer Fubi Kase. Fabi leads him to a prison. Kimizuka is reunited with the bat he once fought to the death with.

Viewers in the USA, Canada and Mexico can watch the third episode on, Funimation in its original Japanese dub with English subtitles. If you don’t have a premium account, you’ll have to wait exactly a week for the episode to become free.

Meanwhile, Animelab is streaming the English subtitled episodes in Australia and New Zealand. The new episode will arrive on these streaming platforms one hour after the Japanese release.

When the English Dub for Tantei wa Mou will premiere?

Unfortunately as of writing, there is no official confirmation when the English dub for Detective is already Dead will release. However taking into account the fact that anime streaming giant Funimation is releasing it who have been producing lots of dubs of their popular series lately along with the popularity of the source material in the English-speaking countries, it is relatively safe to say that an English dub will be announced very soon.

The Detective is Already Dead is a Japanese light novel series written by Nigoju with illustrations drawn by Umibozu. A manga adaptation by Mugiko is currently running in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine since May 2020. A television anime adaptation by Studio ENGI premiered in July 2021.

The story centres around Kimihiko Kimizuka who has always been a magnet for trouble and intrigue. For as long as he can remember, he’s been stumbling across murder scenes or receiving mysterious attaché cases to transport. When he met Siesta, a brilliant detective fighting a secret war against an organization of pseudo humans, he couldn’t resist the call to become her assistant and join her on an epic journey across the world. Until a year ago, that is. Now he’s returned to a life that is normal and tepid by comparison, knowing the adventure must be over. After all, the detective is already dead.
