Blue Orchestra release schedule

Over the years, anime has been used as a medium to explore a wide array of genres, whether it is spy thrillers or sports, and music has been no exception. The medium has given birth to countless classics that revolve around music, such as KyoAni’s K-On!, or more recent hits like Ya Boy Kongming and Kono Oto Tomare, not to mention heart-wrenching stories told through the power of music, such as Your Lie in April. Now, a new addition to the list of ever-growing music-themed anime is “Blue Orchestra”.

Blue Orchestra also known as “Ao no Orchestra” is an upcoming anime which as the name suggests is themed around a bunch of orchestra musicians and is described as a passionate coming-of-age story of Hajime Aono a young boy who rediscovers his passion for playing the violin when he meets a certain girl.

Blue Orchestra is an anime adaptation of the widely acclaimed manga series authored and illustrated by Makoto Akui. The manga series won the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award and has garnered a whopping 3.3 million copies in circulation, despite only having 11 volumes released. This is an impressive feat, as some popular shonen manga do not even come close to such sales figures.

Furthermore, what makes it even more impressive is when considering the fact that the series focuses on a very niche theme of music where you can’t even let you hear the performers. However, the excellent use of dialogues, panelling, and art makes it possible to understand the emotions behind the music.

Episode 1 of Blue Orchestra is set to premiere on April 9, 2023, at 5:00 PM JST, and is confirmed to run for 24 episodes with a new one releasing every week on Sunday.
