Insomniacs After School also known as “Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia” in Japanese is a popular high school romance anime which follows Ganta Nakami and Isaki Magari who suffers from insomnia, and form a strange relationship where they meet at a secret astronomy club every day to catch up to their sleep.
The anime is based on the manga series created by Makoto Ojiro which has won the Mando Kobayashi Manga Grand Prix Award 2023.
Studio Liden Films is helming the anime adaptation with Yūki Ikeda serving as the chief director and Rintarō Ikeda as the scriptwriter. Yuki Fukuda is handling the character designs and Yuki Hayashi of Haikyuu, My Hero Academia is providing the music.
Episode 1 of Insomniacs After School anime is scheduled to release on April 11, 2023, at 12:00 PM JST and is confirmed to run for 13 episodes like a typical short anime. The show will air from April to June with a new episode released every Tuesday on a regular weekly schedule.

What is Insomniacs After School (Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia) about?
The story follows Nakami, a studious but cranky and antisocial high schooler who gets on his classmates’ nerves. However, his bad attitude comes from the fact that he has a sleeping disorder, and frequently spends nights on end without a single minute of sleep.
During the preparations for the school festival, he is begrudgingly sent to the school’s astronomy observatory to gather cardboard boxes, a place which is said to be haunted by the dire happenings of the now-defunct Astronomy Club. He finds the isolated place a haven ripe for him to sleep, but while rummaging around, he stumbles upon his classmate Magari Isaki sleeping inside a toppled-over locker.
Isaki, unlike him, is a personable and popular girl in class, but who also hides her own problems with insomnia. Looking for a middle ground, they find that there’s comfort and ease in sleeping together, so they resort to making the observatory their own private cubby to sleep.
