The first adaptation is the highly anticipated KONOSUBA Megumin Spin-off, officially titled KonoSuba: An Explosion on this Wonderful World. This prequel series is set one year before the main storyline and follows the fan-favourite character, Megumin, and her early days as an adventurer with her master, who taught her the EXPLOSION magic she is famous for
The spin-off anime is based on the light novel written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima, the original duo from the main series. The series ran from July 1, 2014, to March 1, 2019, for 5 volumes.
Studio Drive is responsible for animating the series, with Yujiro Abe helming the direction, while the rest of the previous staff and cast members returning for their respective roles.
Episode 1 of the KONOSUBA Megumin Spin-off is set to premiere on April 6, 2023, at 12:00 AM JST and is confirmed to run for 12 episodes with a new one airing every Thursday. Crunchyroll is streaming the series outside of Japan on a weekly schedule.
